Earlier this month, former Kentucky QB Drew Barker announced that he would transfer out of the program. Barker would be a graduate transfer, meaning he would be eligible to play immediately at another program.

However, it appears the he has changed his mind.

The Courier-Journal is reporting that instead of transferring, Barker will stay in Lexington to finish his master’s degree, but he is giving up football altogether, his father told the outlet. Barker finished his undergraduate degree in August, and he spent the fall working towards his master’s degree in public financial management.

There were certainly high hopes for Barker’s career in Lexington, but things just didn’t turn out like everyone had hoped. Exiting high school in the class of 2014, Barker, from Hebron, Kentucky, was rated as the nation’s No. 5 pro-style QB and the state of Kentucky’s No. 1 overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was one of the biggest signees in Kentucky football history.

With Barker out of the picture and Stephen Johnson out of eligibility, the nation’s No. 1 JUCO QB Terry Wilson now becomes the focal point for the Cats.
