Report: Kentucky QB withdraws his name from the NCAA transfer portal
This offseason, 2 Kentucky quarterbacks have entered the NCAA transfer portal — starter Terry Wilson and Nik Scalzo.
While Wilson remains in the portal, it appears Scalzo has had a change of heart and will remain at Kentucky.
Per 247Sports, Scalzo has withdrawn his name from the portal:
After a brief stint in the transfer portal, Kentucky quarterback Nik Scalzo decided to withdraw his name from the portal on Thursday, sources told 247Sports. Scalzo originally enrolled in 2019 but suffered a torn ACL and did not see game action then nor in 2020.
As the report says, Scalzo has yet to see the field for the Wildcats during his 2 years in Lexington.
With Joey Gatewood and Beau Allen seemingly ahead of him on the depth chart, we’ll see if anything changes in 2021.
I believe we have found our holder for next season.
I’m not sold that he may not have a chance to start next season.if I was a betting man I would say the new OC had a talk to him and probly told him nothing is decided that when he gets to Lexington that everyone that plays quarterback position will have same chance no favoritism toward anyone.the kid looked pretty good I the Netflix QB1 series.so he may just his chance or at least be 2nd man up and we all know the odds of the 2nd or 3rd string quarterback getting playing time at uk is pretty good.not saying this went down but there some good reason why he reversed course and stayed cause of he wanted playing time he could of found some small school down in flordia to get chance to play right away I’m sure.I would say new OC wants as many opinions back there as possible
