Kentucky is set for a vital 2022 college football season as the Wildcats will play young talent as starters. Kentucky offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello is excited to see early contributions from freshman wide receivers Dane Key and Barion Brown.

Scangarello had this to say about his young receivers, “It bodes well for the future of the program,” Scangarello said. “Coach Marrow and the entire staff did an outstanding job recruiting last year. It’s exciting. It’s exciting for now, it’s exciting for the future.

He talked about the need to translate that hard work onto the field,  “Practice is practice,” Scangarello said. “They’ve done it in practice, they’ve earned that right and now we’ve got to go see, when the lights go on, what we’re all about.”

Key is a 4-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class as he is rated as the top prospect from the state of Kentucky, according to 247Sports Composite. Brown is also a 4-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class as he is rated as the 16th best wide receiver prospect, according to 247Sports Composite.

These young receivers will have a high-caliber quarterback throwing them the ball in Will Levis, who is rated the 6th best overall prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft by CBS Sports.
