The Kentucky Wildcats will be without a star defender on Friday when they take on the Northwestern Wildcats.

That’s because DE/OLB Denzil Ware, who has started all 12 games this year, will be suspended for the bowl game.

Kentucky coach Mark Stoops announced the suspension on Tuesday when speaking with the media:

Interestingly, Stoops wouldn’t comment on whether Ware would be back next season, so Kentucky fans will be waiting to see how serious the violation of team rules was.

This year, Ware has recorded 47 tackles and 6.5 sacks this season, so the Wildcats will certainly miss him against Northwestern.

The team will try to move on though, and everyone will be waiting for Stoops to discuss Ware’s suspension in more detail in the near future.
