Staying home: 4-star All-American Lexington OL commits to Kentucky over Alabama, others
Powerhouse programs from around the country came calling, but Mark Stoops’ staff was able to keep Lexington’s own Jager Burton from leaving home. The 4-star offensive guard committed to Kentucky over fellow finalists Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Oregon on Sunday.
Out of Frederick Douglass High School, Burton is rated the No. 1 recruit in the state of Kentucky, No. 8 offensive guard and No. 125 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. He has picked up 21 scholarship offers during his recruitment. Burton is set to play in the All-American Bowl postseason high school all-star game.
Burton fittingly announced his decision from Kentucky Sports Radio’s KSBar & Grille in Lexington. Wildcats assistants Vince Marrow and John Schlarman led the effort to land Burton’s commitment. Burton’s junior season highlights can be viewed below via Hudl:

If Jager Burton picks Kentucky just more than an hour from now he will become the highest-rated interior offensive lineman (guard/center) recruited as such to commit to the ‘Cats since Rivals started ranking players (2002).
