News began to leak that Kentucky offensive coordinator had been hired as the new head coach at Troy University following UK’s 44-40 loss to Louisville in Saturday’s Governor’s Cup showdown.

Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops commented on Brown’s new job, which is expected to be officially announced at a press conference Monday afternoon.

“I am very happy for Neal to earn a head coaching job and believe Troy has made an outstanding hire,” Stoops said, according to a UK athletics release. “Congratulations to Neal and his family and I appreciate his hard work at Kentucky.”

Kentucky will begin its search for a new offensive coordinator this week.
