The Kentucky program and fan base lost a significant figure this offseason with the passing of former QB Jared Lorenzen.

But thanks to custom art designer Billy Hobbs of True Blue Customs, the “Hefty Lefty” will be memorialized by current UK QB Terry Wilson, who will wear these special shoes. Hobbs shared the project with Eli Gehn of LEX-18 News, and how Lorenzen’s daughter reached out to him about working on a pair of shoes.

“Growing up a Jared Lorenzen fan, who didn’t as a kid growing up in Kentucky,” Hobbs said. “Everybody wanted to be Jared Lorenzen. That was a tough loss for all of Big Blue Nation.”

Hobbs said he’s artistically personalized shoes for former Kentucky players and professional athletes across the country.

“As far as different stuff I’ve done, that’s up there as one of the most special pairs I’ve done,” Hobbs said. “Because it means something, to not just me, but the entire Big Blue Nation.”

Earlier this summer, Wilson said he plans to wear No. 22 this Saturday against Toledo in another tribute to Lorenzen.

The program also announced it would have a “Jared Lorenzen Day” on Oct. 12, when the Wildcats play host to Arkansas.
