WATCH: First SEC player ejected for targeting in 2019
Targeting is a big part of college football these days, and we now have our first SEC player ejected for the infraction during the 2019 season.
This one comes to us from the Kentucky-Toledo game, where DB Chris Oats was ejected for helmet-to-helmet contact on the sliding Toledo quarterback.
As you can see below, Oats goes head-first into the sliding quarterback, earning an ejection that was confirmed upon review:

Since this penalty occurred in the third quarter, Oats will also miss the first half of next week’s game against Eastern Michigan.
Kentucky holds a 24-17 lead over the Rockets as time winds down in the third quarter from Lexington.
Minor correction: despite wearing #22, Chris Oats is a LB, not a DB. He’ll be on an All-SEC team eventually, so you’ll know then.
Dude… this is the second time you’ve called Chris Oats a DB.
He is a linebacker. Was a 4 star recruit and a huge get for us. You should know this stuff. Please, if you’re going to cover us again this year, start studying up. Jesus Christ…
