What Mark Stoops said after Kentucky's win over Mississippi State
Kentucky picked up its first win of the season in dominating defensive fashion over Mississippi State, 24-2.
The Wildcats picked up six interceptions, and held coach Mike Leach without a touchdown, and to the lowest scoring output, of his career.
Mississippi State outgained Kentucky 295 to 157. But the Kentucky defense, including a Pick Six in the fourth quarter, provided all the help the Wildcats needed.
Kentucky returns to action next week against Tennessee, as Kentucky had just 73 passing yards.
Here’s what coach Mark Stoops shared with the media after the game:
Stoops: Paschal has been disruptive every week, done some really good things. Just happy for him and hopefully this won’t be anything to keep him out. He just said in the locker room that he doesn’t think it’s anything that will keep him out of action.

Mark Stoops in post-game: ‘What a difference a week makes. Last week, I was not very proud of the way defense played. . . . (tonight) great defensive effort.” #bbn #ukfootball

Stoops on his team’s 6 interceptions: “When technique and opportunity meet you have the opportunity to make plays.” #bbn #ukfootball

Mark Stoops said UK dedicated game ball to LB Chris Oats and will take it to him Sunday. Oats, who has been out since the summer, returned home today.

Stoops: Credit MSU for their defense tonight. The UK staff knew it could create issues for them tonight. Disappointed they didn’t create their own explosive plays tonight. “Obviously, you’re not functioning like you want to when you only run 53 plays.”

Marquan McCall was suspended tonight for a violation of team rules, Stoops said. DT will be back active next week.
