With 14 minutes remaining in the second half of Saturday’s game between No. 7 Kentucky and Florida in Gainesville, the Gators held an 11-point lead and seemed on the verge of completing an impressive upset.
Over the next 14 minutes, though, the Wildcats went on an incredible 34-12 run to end up winning the game easily, 65-54.
It was a devastating loss for the Gators’ NCAA Tournament hopes, but there’s still time left for them to bounce back. After the game, though, Florida coach Mike White wasn’t too happy.
After losing to the Wildcats, White had plenty of praise for coach John Calipari’s squad, saying they showed their toughness on Saturday evening.
Here’s what White had to say in his postgame press conference:
On Tyler Herro’s efficiency and PJ Washington’s leadership:
Mike White raving about Herro getting 19 points on 8 FGA and calls PJ Washington "the best player on the floor." Talked to a couple of the Florida players who said they could hear PJ talking to teammates all night.

On Washington’s dominance in the post:
Mike White said PJ Washington just "made us pay" over and over and over today. "We've been really good sending activity to the post and it had NO effect for the first time all year. A lot of it had to do with his decisions."

On what changed when Kentucky made a run:
Mike White on what changed for Kentucky: "They made adjustments. They switched a lot and we went a little stagnant. Their bigs did a great job stay in front of the ball."
