Will Levis speaks about his NFL Draft prospects, and Kentucky's chances in the SEC East
Will Levis comes into this season with plenty of hype as an experienced quarterback looking to take Kentucky to the next level and challenge Georgia in the SEC East.
“We know that there’s a chance,” Levis said during an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take.” “We know in this building that there’s more than a chance and we have a great shot at it. We’re the only ones who know how hard we work and I know our guys have the right mindset to really take this season head on. We have a great schedule, we have some great opponents, we have some opponents we want to get back from last year.”
About a replacement for Wan’Dale Robinson, Levis didn’t single out any teammates, but said UK has plenty of depth at wide receiver.
Levis deflected the Todd McShay mock draft pegging him No. 8 overall to the New York Giants next season, but said what separates him from other quarterbacks is who he is as a person.
“I carry myself on and off the field as professionally as well as anyone in the country,” Levis said. “I’m only going to bring positive vibes and positive attention to whatever franchise takes a chance on me.”
I’m proud to stand up and say Will is my favorite player on any other team including Kentucky. What he says goes. ‘At boy hit dat dam baw.
I don’t question his ability as a QB, but I thought there were times last year that he could have improved as a leader when somebody dropped a pass, or a drive was stalled. And Levis was far from perfect as a first year starter. If he can take the next step as a leader, it will bode well for him at the next level. He says all the right things, now he just needs to help build confidence with a largely new receiving room…
At this point, I don’t see Levis as a top ten NFL QB draft. Got to do a lot more passing in scheme to develop him. I think the potential is there for a top ten QB draft one day though..
As a player,Levis is very good.He should not be thinking that he is all that as a qb.He still needs to play this year out, then talk.Stay healthy. If he talk out grows his play,he can then be referred to as Levi’s.
Actually, I don’t think Levis is the one talking, except to say things similar to what you have said. He has talked mostly about reviewing his mistakes and trying to correct them. A lot of media folks and NFL scouts have done most of the hype stuff. It doesn’t seem to go to his head as far as I can tell. He had a good interview with Josh Pate that can give you a sense for where he is coming from.
Bet hooker is top QB in country? Right? Nobody pays you no attention anyway
Who asked you anyway?
That was to gwhite, btw. Can’t wait to play them and beat them AGAIN in Knoxville.
Levis is getting hype from all the scouts that watched Robinson tape last year. He has similar tools to Josh Allen.
Not meaning to over-simplify things but if Levis takes care of business on the field, he’ll get plenty of attention from scouts. First things first… just play the games. Kentucky will be tough this year.
This scares me. The last time we had a quarterback go on record and tell us he’s a standup individual who has integrity, slapped his girlfriend, was charged with domestic assault, and missed the upcoming bowl game that we should have won.
