After a big win over Missouri last week, LSU stayed in the win column as the Tigers cruised past Auburn 48-18 behind a strong second half showing.

It was an encouraging win for the Tigers who faced lots of questions after losing to Ole Miss just a few weeks ago. Now, LSU can head into what should be an easy win over Army next week with confidence. After that, the Tigers get to rest up with the bye week before a season-defining game against Alabama to start out the November slate.

Here are some takeaways from LSU’s complete win.

Jayden Daniels’ dream season continues

Jayden Daniels has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC this season, and his dream senior season continued on Saturday against Auburn.

Daniels posted 325 passing yards and 3 touchdowns, shaking off a first half-interception to put together another outstanding game. He also got things going on the ground, picking up 93 rushing yards.

Daniels has now eclipsed the 2,000 passing yard-mark and the 20-touchdown mark on the season, and he’s separating himself from the rest of the quarterbacks in the SEC, and keeping LSU in the SEC West title race on his way.

LSU pulls away behind dominant 3rd quarter

Auburn was still very much in the game at the beginning of the second half, trailing by just 10 points after a field goal on its first drive out of the half.

LSU quickly put the game out of reach.

On the first offensive drive of the half for LSU, Daniels connected with Kyren Lacy on a 25-yard pass to take a 17-point lead. Then the Tigers’ defense forced a 3 and out, getting the ball back in the hands of a scorching-hot Daniels.

LSU made Auburn pay for giving up the ball so quickly, scoring on just 4 plays to make it a 34-10 lead heading into the final quarter.

Tigers quest for SEC West title continues

After LSU’s loss to Ole Miss a few weeks ago, there were plenty of questions about this Tigers team.

Does this LSU team have what it takes to reach a second-straight SEC Championship? Back-t0-back solid performances say possibly.

LSU is nearing a November that will be season defining. After next week’s game against Army followed by the bye week, the Tigers will play one of their most important games of the season against Alabama. Taking down the Tide won’t be an easy task, but if they can take care of things in Tuscaloosa and win their final game of the season against Texas A&M, an SEC West title will be well in their sites.
