The LSU Tigers took care of business against the Grambling State Tigers on Saturday.

Here are our 3 takeaways from the game:

Jayden Daniels was almost perfect

Daniels was much more efficient in Week 2 than he was in Week 1. Granted, Grambling State is nowhere near the level of Florida State, but the performance was still impressive nonetheless.

Daniels finished with 269 passing yards and 5 TDs with no turnovers. Daniels added 29 yards on the ground as well before being removed in favor of Garrett Nussmeier once the game was out of reach.

The defensive line will only get better

In Week 1, the Tigers gave up 135 yards on the ground to the Florida State Seminoles and didn’t collect a single sack. Against Grambling, the Tigers welcomed back Maason Smith and the difference was obvious. The team only got 1 sack, but Grambling QB Myles Crawley was under pressure and looked uncomfortable all night.

This group will only get better with more time together. I expect the run defense to improve when SEC play rolls around.

Logan Diggs could be a weapon

Diggs was unavailable in Week 1, but returned in Week 2 and showed how much of a force he can be. The running back went for over 100 yards on the ground and looked explosive.

Just last week, the shorthanded Tigers ended the game with QB Jayden Daniels as the leading rusher with 64 yards. Having a running back who’s capable of doing damage on the ground will be pivotal to the Tigers’ success in 2023.
