When it comes to ratings, college football has never been a better product for television as the ABC doubleheader of Texas A&M at Clemson and LSU at Texas just jumped to the top of the list of the highest-rated college games of the season on Saturday night.

The LSU at Texas game did a 5.8 rating and the Texas A&M at Clemson game did a 4.7 for ABC yesterday. The previous high was the Auburn vs. Oregon game of Week 1, which did a 4.4 rating.

These figures represent a 190% year-over-year rating increase for the timeslot in which the games aired. During the LSU game, the New Orleans market registered the highest ratings for a college football game since 2006.

The ratings also proved to be ABC’s best dating back to the 2017 kickoff weekend which featured Alabama and Florida State meeting in Atlanta’s new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
