Just when you think you’ve seen it all on social media, Twitter never disappoints.

An account claiming to be new LSU defensive coordinator Kevin Steele (@CoachSteeleLSU) was recently found to be fake according to Jake Terry, the Tigers’ associate sports information director and sheriff of social media in a report by The Daily Reveille.

LSU’s official football account tweeted Saturday that Steele was not on Twitter despite recent attempts to reach out to recruits and current defensive back Corey Thompson:

Thompson tweeted Saturday a hilarious direct message exchange between himself and who he thought was Steele. It didn’t take long before he quickly caught on that he was being trolled:

Before the fake Steele account was suspended later Saturday evening, the user behind the mischief tweeted ‘ROLL TIDE @LSUfball: Road to 16!’ along with two elephants and a photo.

You have to give Alabama fans credit for this one. At least they were creative.
