Alabama linebacker recruit Monty Rice commits to LSU
LSU’s 2017 recruiting class just got bigger, as three-star Madison, Ala., linebacker Monty Rice committed to the Tigers over Auburn and Georgia.
The 6-foot-1, 227-pound Rice currently holds 20 scholarship offers, including offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Ole Miss, South Carolina Tennessee, Florida State and Michigan. Rice is rated as a three-star recruit, the No. 21 inside linebacker prospect in the nation and the No. 32 prospect from Alabama, per 247Sports’ Composite Ratings.
Rice plans on signing his financial aid agreement papers with LSU soon and will be an early enrollee.
During his senior season at James Clemens High, Rice racked up 140 tackles, five interceptions, four sacks and 10 tackles-for-loss in his final prep season.

With the addition of Rice, LSU now has 18 total commitments in its 2017 recruiting class. His addition was huge for the Tigers, as Rice is the first linebacker to join the class.
