Andrew Whitworth is a former LSU football standout who enjoyed a terrific career in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals and then the Los Angeles Rams. He currently serves as a pregame analyst for the Thursday night Amazon Prime game.
On Monday night, he is in attendance for the NFC wildcard playoff matchup between the Rams and the Minnesota Vikings. The Rams were supposed to host the game, but because of the wild fires going through Los Angeles, the game was moved to Arizona where the Arizona Cardinals play.
Whitworth spoke to the fans in the crowd, where he gave a passionate speech to the fans and members of Los Angeles, telling them they will do what is needed to rebuild their beloved city.
“For the past week, our Los Angeles region has been ravaged by catastrophic wildfires,” Whitworth said before kickoff. “Over 150,000 people have been evacuated. Our friends and our neighbors have lost homes, and entire communities have been devastated. The courage and bravery of our first responders and firefighters have proved that real-life heroes live among us. I believe in the people of Los Angeles. We are strong. We will not be defined by this devastation. We will, rebuild LA, hand-in-hand together, as long as it takes. Los Angeles, I love you, we love you and we are with you.”
The game is currently in the 2nd quarter, airing on ESPN.
