LSU is getting a good one in Arik Gilbert.

Just how good is the five-star athlete from Marietta, Ga.? Gilbert was honored as the 2020 Gatorade Male High School Athlete of the Year on Friday.

Gilbert is the first tight end to ever win the award.

During his senior season at Marietta High School, Gilbert caught 105 passes for 1,860 yards and 15 touchdowns. Marietta also won its first state title since 1968.

Gilbert’s quarterback at Marietta last season was Harrison Bailey, a touted prospect himself, that signed with Tennessee.
