Brian Daboll knows that Malik Nabers cares a heck of a lot about what happens on Sundays, and that’s great.

After Sunday’s 30-7 trouncing that the Giants took at home, courtesy of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Nabers was asked how he would describe his team’s performance. The answer wasn’t pretty.

Nabers had a NSFW response, saying the Giants were “soft as f–.” In fairness, Nabers also said he was “very” disappointed and “tired of going out there and losing.”

Nabers’ numbers were pedestrian by his standards, as he caught 6 passes for 64 yards in the loss that dropped the last-place Giants to 2-9.

That brings us to Daboll, who naturally was asked about his frustrated wide receiver’s postgame comments and told the media that he spoke to Nabers and would like to keep that conversation private. Then Daboll told reporters what he thinks of Nabers as a player.

“He’s a very competitive individual. You want to get the ball in his hands, and I’ve got to do a better job of getting the ball in his hands early,” said Daboll.

Nabers, who was a unanimous All-American last year at LSU, has 67 catches for 671 yards and 3 touchdowns in his rookie season for the Giants. But he was used to winning games in Baton Rouge, and the fact that it’s not happening so far at the pro level brought out some extreme frustration on Sunday.
