Brian Kelly didn’t have an answer for reporters on Tuesday on Jayden Daniels’ willingness to play in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
While Daniels has been away from the team lately, that was due to a recent death in the family.
Kelly assured reporters that Daniels is very aware of the pros and cons of potentially playing in the game. Kelly said that LSU will provide Daniels with all the necessary tools to make the decision, but one hasn’t been made just yet.
“He has not. He’s unfortunately had a death in the family and was gone for a few days. I spoke with him yesterday. He clearly knows the pros and cons of this decision, and I do too. Who wouldn’t want him to play? Everybody wants to see Jayden Daniels play one last time,” Kelly said.
“He’s gotta make a decision, clearly, and I see both sides of it. We’ll provide him with all the things necessary for him to make a decision, but he hasn’t gotten that level yet.”
LSU will be taking on Wisconsin to close out the year. The Tigers are currently favored by 10.5 points, but that could change if Daniels opts out.
Kickoff is scheduled for New Year’s Day at noon ET on ESPN2.
