Brian Kelly has been pleased with Joe Foucha amid the safety’s 4-game suspension following his transfer from Arkansas.

The LSU defensive back transferred to LSU from Arkansas, where he was a 3-year starter. During his Arkansas career, Foucha collected 230 tackles and 4 interceptions.

Kelly clarified some details about the issue during Wednesday’s SEC coaches media teleconference.

“Joe has been amazing,” Kelly said. “It really has to do with some technical issues with credit hours and transfer credit hours. … It’s really unfortunate. Joe has done everything we’ve asked him to do. … We’re in that process. Certainly, Joe’s been great in everything we’ve asked him to do and we’re hoping to get him back as soon as we can.”

Foucha, a Louisiana native, is a graduate transfer taking advantage of an extra year of eligibility granted during the pandemic, made 11 1/2 tackles for a loss during his 4-year Arkansas career. Brooks had 112 tackles and 4 interceptions in three seasons with the Razorbacks.

He was among 8 transfers LSU welcomed this offseason.
