Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers are gearing up for a tough SEC road test against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Week 8.
The Razorbacks have surprised some in 2024 and currently sit at 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the SEC. Much of the Razorbacks’ impressive play can be attributed to transfer portal addition Taylen Green at quarterback.
Green is a dual-threat QB who has thrown for 1,502 yards and rushed for 326. Ahead of the matchup. Kelly was asked for his thoughts on the impressive signal-caller.
“He is, long speed, as fast as anybody we’ll see,” said Kelly of Green. “He’s got escapability, and I think he throws it better than the QB from South Carolina. So, this is a guy that is a real threat.”

Kelly mentioned South Carolina because their QB, LaNorris Sellers, is similarly a dual threat. However, the Tiger defense was able to contain Sellers through the air, allowing the QB to complete just 9 passes for 113 yards.
LSU’s defense has been better against the run than the pass this season. The team has the No. 101 passing defense and the No. 52 rushing defense. Arkansas’ offense will be a tough test, as the team currently sports the No. 8 total offense in the nation.
The Tigers started off the season with a loss, but have been on a roll ever since. The team moved up to No. 8 in the latest AP Poll after picking up a win over Ole Miss in Week 7.
The Battle for the Golden Boot will kick off from Razorback Stadium on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
