Brian Kelly couldn’t stop saying nice things about his team at the postgame presser after beating Missouri 49-39 in Columbia.
Kelly opened by saying how proud he was of the team. He credited the players and their hard work on the field in the win. The physicality stood out to Kelly.
One of the players that Kelly felt the most pride about was Jayden Daniels. Daniels left the game in the second half with a rib injury, but returned and helped the Bayou Bengals secure the win.
Daniels finished the game with 259 yards passing and 4 total touchdowns.
One of the things that Kelly admitted was an issue against Ole Miss with that the defensive line was too far off the ball. Kelly said that former DL coach and current analyst Pete Jenkins helped with that.
Another area that Kelly wanted to see improvements in was the secondary. After being down 22-7 the Tigers mixed up some of their coverages and started to play a lot of man-to-man coverage.
Lastly, he gave out an update on Charles Turner. Turner left the game after hyperextending his knee.
Here’s everything that was said by Kelly after the game:
Brian Kelly: “Proud of my football team. It starts with our players and their ability to go out on the field and effect change from last week. They were much more physical. There’s certainly things we need to do better, but we were playing a really good football team.”

Brian Kelly: “Jayden Daniels is just a warrior. He’s tough. He’s physical. He’s smart. He’s skilled. I can’t use enough superlatives about him individually.”

Brian Kelly said #LSU mixed up its coverages down 22-7 after playing a lot of man to start the game, like on Harold Perkins’ interception. That was a different look.
