Brian Kelly and LSU have been without a key linebacker since the Army game on Oct. 21.

Freshman linebacker Whit Weeks has been absent for several weeks, and Kelly addressed his absence on Monday during his press conference.

“He’s been injured,” Kelly said. “He had an accident that left a nasty gash in his foot and he wasn’t able to play at the highest level. We could’ve probably got him in the Georgia State game, that was my decision not to play him. I did not want to put him in a game where he pops 2 or 3 of those stitches and then we didn’t have him for A&M. We’re gonna need him for this weekend.”

Weeks has totaled 39 tackles and half a sack on the season. The Tigers will need all of the pieces they can have this weekend as they take on Texas A&M. The Aggies have new life under interim head coach Elijah Robinson, and they’re looking for a big win over LSU to close out the season.
