LSU is getting a boost on offense. Brian Kelly shared Thursday that Tigers WR Brian Thomas Jr. is set to return for Saturday’s game against UAB after being in concussion protocol.

“Cleared the protocol. Practiced yesterday and practiced today, so he’ll play,” Kelly told reporters during his Thursday media opportunity.

Thomas, a sophomore, has appeared in 9 games this season. He’s one of a handful of LSU receivers with multiple touchdowns. Thomas has 20 catches for 280 yards and 3 scores on the year so far.

Thomas has posted 5 receptions twice on the season, against Florida State (44 yards) and Tennessee (37 yards. Thomas’ touchdown catches came against Southern, New Mexico and Florida.

Malik Nabers leads LSU receivers in catches (44) and receiving yards (528). Jaray Jenkins has a team-high 5 touchdowns.

The LSU-UAB game will be the Tigers’ home finale (8 p.m. CT, ESPN2) for the first season under Kelly. The Tigers finish the regular season on the road at Texas A&M and play No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game before learning their bowl assignment.
