During his weekly press conference, LSU football coach Brian Kelly discussed many different things about the LSU football team.

One of those things was about the expectations of sophomore linebacker, Harold Perkins. During his freshman campaign last year, Perkins had 72 tackles to go along with 7.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. His best game was against Arkansas, when he had 8 tackles, 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.

He is an elite playmaker on the defensive side of the ball, and Kelly says LSU is going to do many different things with him this year.

“I think you are going to see him make plays all over the field,” Kelly said. “His plays came mostly from the perimeter. He was a perimeter player who made a lot of his plays getting after the quarterback. He is still going to get after the quarterback, but he is also going to get after running backs and tight ends. I think it is going to be exciting to watch.”

Kelly believes this will allow Perkins to become an all-around linebacker.

“You’re going to see a linebacker, not a pass-rush specialist,” Kelly said. “I am excited to see the development of Harold Perkins of that player who can impact a game, not just coming from the edge and harassing the quarterback, but all facets. Getting the ball loose and impacting fumbles and big plays.”

Regardless of where Perkins lines up, expectations are sky high for the sophomore after an impressive freshman season.
