Brian Kelly held his first press conference of the season on Monday, but declined to name the starting quarterback at LSU.
Kelly said the reason is because it provides a tactical advantage against FSU, and the Seminoles already have an advantage because they’ve played a game.
“It doesn’t help us to play that card.” Kelly said and added that they won’t announce it publicly until game day.
Jayden Daniels has been reported to be in the lead in a competition with Garrett Nussmeier after Myles Brennan’s departure from the team.
Kelly said both run extremely well, and both make plays out of the pocket.
Kelly said he knew LSU’s starting quarterback about 48 hours ago, and it’s more 1A and 1B.
“It’s been that close,” Kelly said, and added “This is not a 1 and a 2. Both are going to contribute this year.”
Daniels has plenty of experience and versatility. He started 29 games in 3 seasons with Arizona State before transferring to LSU. Daniels rushed for nearly 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns in addition to passing for 6,000 yards and 32 touchdowns with the Sun Devils.
