Brian Kelly shares encouraging fundraising update for Greg Brooks Jr.
Brian Kelly gave an update on Greg Brooks Jr. and his “Victory Fund” established for the LSU defensive back.
Last week, Brooks was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, medulloblastoma. The diagnosis came after Brooks had emergency brain surgery to remove a large brain tumor.
Kelly announced in a social media post on Monday that more than $100,000 has been raised for Brooks and his family.
“We can’t thank you all enough for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers,” Kelly wrote on social media.

Kelly confirmed with Paul Finebaum on SEC Network on Monday that Brooks has been transferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. Kelly also noted that another surgery is scheduled for Brooks.

The 5-foot-10, 187-pound Louisiana native and former Arkansas defensive back has not played since Sept. 9 versus Grambling State. He was named team captain before the 2023 season began.
In 2 games for the Tigers this season, Brooks recorded 8 tackles and 2 pass deflections.
Last season, Brooks started 13 games for LSU. He intercepted 2 passes along with a sack, a forced fumble and 3 tackles for losses. He finished that season with 5 pass breakups and 66 solo or assisted tackles.
The No. 22 Tigers defeated No. 21 Mizzou by a 49-39 score on Saturday. The Tigers (4-2) will now prepare for Auburn this Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
