Bruce Feldman has a pulse on Ed Orgeron’s background because of his relationship with him that includes writing a pair of books with, or about, Orgeron over the years.

Feldman, who covers college football for The Athletic and FOX Sports, was a guest on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Thursday, and projected that Orgeron would work in television in 2022.

“My guess is he’s going to probably do TV in some form, next year,” Feldman said. “I don’t know if that means he will be a colleague of yours at SEC Network and ESPN, or where he ends up. I think the thing that will be interesting with him is he has a ton of stories and he’s obviously a colorful character. I think a lot of times, and you know, it’s can you tell stories that people remember and how do they feel about you.”

Feldman then gave an interesting comparison and said that one of FOX Sports’ best analysts in baseball is David Ortiz, and he doesn’t exactly have a “news anchor” type voice or accent. So any perceived reason for not hiring Orgeron because of his thick accent should not hold water.

“How does it translate on TV, and I think ultimately for Orgeron, I think it’s going to be, where does he feel most comfortable, and what kind of position they put him in,” Feldman said. “I don’t think him being any game analyst, or anything like that, he’ll probably be in somebody’s studio in a pregame or halftime show or analysis and do that for a year. Whether he decides I want to stay in that or not, I think it’s going to be interesting to see where he goes after this year, just because does he want to stay in TV because that’s something he likes, or does he miss coaching.”

The landing spot is tough to read because LSU was Orgeron’s dream program, and obviously one he grew up rooting for before he led it to a national championship as head coach.
