Bryce Underwood is heading to the SEC, and he provided a major boost to Brian Kelly’s LSU program Saturday evening!

A 5-star quarterback from Belleville (MI) High School, Underwood is rated as the top QB and the top overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class per the 247 Sports Composite. The 6-foot-3.5 and 205-pound QB was hotly pursued by a number of top programs, including the likes of Alabama, Michigan, Colorado, FSU, Penn State and Oregon.

Ultimately, Kelly and the Tigers win out for Underwood’s commitment. Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Underwood is ESPN’s top-ranked prospect and the second No. 1 overall recruit in program history for LSU. The first was star running back Leonard Fournette in the 2014 recruiting class.

During the 2021 season, Underwood threw for nearly 2,900 yards and 39 touchdowns to go with 6 rushing touchdowns in leading Belleville to a state title as a freshman. He followed that up in 2022 by throwing for over 2,700 yards with 37 passing touchdowns and 8 rushing touchdowns while leading Belleville to its first-ever unbeaten season and another state title.

Already, LSU has landed a trio of 5-star players for the 2025 recruiting class. The Tigers hold 8 firm commitments as things currently stand in a group that ranks second nationally per the 247 Sports Team Composite.
