Clyde Edwards-Helaire touched the ball only two times during LSU’s Peach Bowl victory over Oklahoma. But that may have had more to do with the game situation than the health of the Tigers’ starting running back.

LSU rolled to a 63-28 victory in the College Football Playoff semifinal on Saturday, as it advanced to the CFP National Championship that will take place on Jan. 13. Edwards-Helaire, who is the Tigers’ leading rusher this season, had only two carries for 14 yards after he suffered a hamstring injury during practice in the lead-up to the Peach Bowl.

By halftime, LSU had a 49-14 victory over Oklahoma and didn’t need to push offensively.

According to Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports and FS1, Edwards-Helaire said that his hamstring was “feeling great” after LSU’s victory.

Edwards-Helaire said his recovery was “miraculous,” and that he’ll be 100 percent for the CFP National Championship, according to Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated.

That is good news for the Tigers, as they may need Edwards-Helaire to play a bigger role in the national championship game against either Ohio State or Clemson, depending on which team wins the Fiesta Bowl.

Edwards-Helaire has rushed for 1,290 yards and 16 touchdowns this season for LSU.
