Colin Cowherd made an appearance on Greg McElroy’s “Always College Football” podcast, and made his national championship prediction.

Cowherd concluded that in the age of the transfer portal, a roster can be made over in 2 years, whereas it took a coach like Nick Saban 3 years to completely reset his roster. That’s why Cowherd sees plenty of potential in Brian Kelly and LSU.

“First year, got the offense kind of figured out, now he’s going to get the defense figured out,” Cowherd said. “So I have Michigan facing LSU in the championship, and I don’t think LSU’s the best SEC team. I don’t think they’re the deepest. But I love the coach, I love the quarterback, and I looked at their schedule and I’m like, it’s going to be a lot of people knocking each other off, I like LSU a lot.”

Cowherd added that if LSU beat Michigan in a competitive game, that it would be good for college football. The SEC winning is not bad, it’s just bad nationally, he said, if it was a lopsided game.

“I think them dominating and suffocating teams is bad for the sport,” Cowherd said. “I don’t think we’ll see that this year.”
