The LSU-Florida showdown this Saturday in Baton Rouge figures to be one of the most entertaining games in the SEC this year. If this year’s rivalry matchup between the Tigers and Gators is anything close to last season’s, it will be a classic game to remember for years to come.

But Fox Sports personality Colin Cowherd isn’t buying the hype. In his “Marquee Three Picks of Week 7” segment on Thursday, Cowherd confidently picked LSU to cover the 13-point spread against Florida.

“This may be my favorite college pick of the year, I’ll take LSU to blow out Florida,” Cowherd said. “It’s LSU -13, this is easy stuff. Their offense… they may be the best offense in the country this year. They’re first in everything: points, yards, passing, third-down percentage. They’re 5-1 in their last six against top-10 teams; only lost to Bama – so they’re a good big-game team. And Joe Burrow has been very good for them, the former Ohio State backup. He had the worst game of his career last year in the loss to Florida. He was awful. He was 19-of-34. This year, Burrow has been remarkable. He’s a Heisman favorite right now – first in completion percentage, first in passing yards.”

“And the Gators just came off a huge upset win over Auburn, so it’s very hard to get 19-and 20-year-olds to get back to that emotional level in back-to-back weeks. I don’t think Florida can do it. I think LSU blows them out, 40-21.”

The other factor working against Florida is the fact the Gators just beat Auburn at home while this matchup is in the very tough Death Valley.

Still, Cowherd must be extremely confident in LSU to pick the favorite in a blowout. No one will remember if he’s right because the Tigers are expected to win, but if Florida covers the spread or even wins the game, you better bet Cowherd will hear about it from the Gators faithful.
