LSU continues to win big this offseason with the latest bit of positive news coming with Ed Orgeron’s coaching staff.

While defensive backs coach Corey Raymond interviewed for a position on Kirby Smart’s Georgia staff, the Tigers longtime assistant and noted recruiter is reportedly sticking with LSU, according to Brody Miller of NOLA.com. Raymond was in Athens over the weekend to meet with Smart.

Georgia has a whole at the position following the departure of defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Mel Tucker, who left to take over the Colorado program. Smart, a former defensive back at Georgia, also has a hand in coaching up the team’s secondary.

Raymond is a Louisiana native and an LSU alum. He has served on the coaching staff at LSU for seven seasons. He also has played a central role in recruiting and developing several elite defensive backs at LSU during his time on staff in Baton Rouge.
