LSU coach Ed Orgeron is known for his intensity in the locker room and on the sidelines, but his pregame routines take things to a whole new level.

In a piece written by Michael Casagrande of AL.com, former LSU players detail what it’s like to play for Coach O.

According to former QB Danny Etling, who is now with the New England Patriots, Coach O’s pregame routine involves Red Bull, being shirtless and punching himself in the jaw:

“Before one of the games,” Etling said, “he’ll come down and drink a whole Red Bull, smashes it on his head, lifts off his shirt and he’s punching himself in the jaw getting us ready, pumped up to play. That’s Coach O for you.”

Toby Weathersby, a former LSU offensive lineman, echoed Etling’s sentiments, saying it’s not a light punch either:

“It’s a real serious punch,” said Weathersby. “Then he’ll look at us and start growling. He’ll give us a growl and you know what time it means. It’s time to go win a ball game.”

Coach O looks like he has a jaw of steel, and that seems to indeed be the case. So, next time you see him on the sidelines, think about what he does to get pumped up before a game.
