If there was one player who was a catalyst for LSU’s comeback win against Auburn on Saturday, it was linebacker Devin White.

Led by White, the LSU defense held Auburn scoreless and only 64 total yards, six passing yards and four first downs in the second half. Auburn led 17-0 after the first quarter and 20-0 early in the second quarter.

For that effort, White was named the Chuck Bednarik Award National Player of the Week, the Maxwell Football Club announced. This award is voted on by members of the Maxwell Football Club National Selection Committee.

Against Auburn, White had a career-high 15 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, one sack and a quarterback hurry. White registered his fifth straight game with double-digit tackles as the Tigers won 27-23.

Also this week, White was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week. White leads the SEC in both tackles (77) and tackles per game (11.0). He ranks third nationally in total tackles.

LSU on Saturday will play Ole Miss in Oxford. Kickoff is set for 6:15 p.m. local time on ESPN.
