Brian Thomas Jr. appears to be living up to his high recruiting grade. The Walker (Louisiana) standout was rated 4-stars, the No. 4 Louisiana recruit, No. 13 wide receiver and No. 89 prospect by the 247Sports Composite for the class of 2021.

The 6-4, 190-pounder is already proving hard to cover one-on-one, according to Ed Orgeron. The LSU head coach sees a bright future ahead for Thomas.

“I think he’s going to be one of the great receivers we’ve had here at LSU,” Orgeron told reporters Saturday during his press conference.

Considering Orgeron has coached Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson, his expectations for Thomas give LSU fans a lot to be excited about. Maybe Thomas deserved an even higher ranking on the Composite if he’s destined to be one of the great Tiger receivers.

Wide receiver is one of those positions where freshmen tend to see the field and contribute. Perhaps we’ll be seeing Thomas make highlight catches this fall.
