This week, it was revealed that LSU freshman OL Kardell Thomas had suffered a leg injury during practice.

The extent of the injury wasn’t known at the time, but after Saturday’s scrimmage, LSU coach Ed Orgeron provided an update, and it doesn’t sound good.

Per Coach O, Thomas is going to have leg surgery. Coach O didn’t officially rule him out for the year, but did say it could be a season-ending surgery:

That’s bad news for a talented young player who was making strides during fall camp. However, he’ll likely be able to take a redshirt and return fully healthy in 2020.

Per the 247Sports composite, Thomas — a 4-star signee — was the No. 4 offensive guard in the 2019 class and the No. 4 overall recruit from the state of Louisiana.
