Ed Orgeron provides update on status of star RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire
The LSU Tigers are preparing for a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance against Oklahoma, and they got some bad news on Wednesday.
After rumors surfaced of star RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire being on crutches after suffering a hamstring injury at practice, coach Ed Orgeron addressed the running back’s status.
During his Early Signing Period press conference, Coach O weighed in on the injury suffered by Edwards-Helaire:
“Clyde did get hurt yesterday. I don’t know the extent of his injury,” Coach O said. “He went to get some tests today and we’re gonna know a little bit more toward the end of the week. But he did not practice today. He could not practice.”
Obviously, that’s not the news the Tigers wanted ahead of a matchup with the Sooners. However, Edwards-Helaire would be able to return for the title game if he’s healthy and if the Tigers advance that far.
There’s still more than a week left for Edwards-Helaire to rehab and heal up, so we’ll learn more toward the end of this week about his status for the Peach Bowl.
