LSU coach Ed Orgeron loves to talk about QB Joe Burrow, especially what separates him from his peers. That even includes Burrow’s response to a broken cell phone.

Burrow’s parents couldn’t get in touch with him in recent days and were concerned.

“He wouldn’t answer the phone,” Orgeron said at a Friday press conference. “Wanted to know what was going on. Well, Joe’s phone broke. And Mama and Daddy said, ‘We’re going to get you one.’ He said, ‘I don’t need a phone, I got a game to play this week.’ So that goes to show you the focus, the leadership of that young man, on what he’s done, so I think he’s fine.”

This is another example of how great players put themselves in a class all their own, and recalled a similar story when when former Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck insisted on keeping his flip phone even as technology evolved. We’ll see if that focus pays off Saturday evening in Atlanta against Georgia in the SEC Championship.
