At first glance, the numbers former LSU DB Rashard Robinson put up as a rookie for the San Francisco 49ers in 2016 — 14 games, six starts, 25 tackles, eight passes defensed and one interception — don’t exactly jump out at you.

However, the former fourth-round pick has a big fan in new teammate Elvis Dumervil, who came over from Baltimore this offseason.

Dumervil told SFGate.com that he believes Robinson can be the best corner in the NFC West, which is a division filled with star defensive backs:

“I’m excited about Rashard Robinson,” Dumervil said. “I think he can be the best corner in this division.”

Dumervil was then reminded that the Arizona Cardinals employ former LSU star Patrick Peterson and the Seattle Seahawks have Richard Sherman. However, the veteran pass rusher didn’t back down from the praise of his teammate:

“That’s what I’m telling you,” Dumervil said. “I know who the corners are.”

It’s not like Dumervil hasn’t been around the block a few times, either. The veteran has been around for a long time and has seen some great cornerbacks, so his praise of Robinson is not to be taken lightly.
