ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum says one NFL team should trade up for Jayden Daniels
ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum sees one NFL team as a potential “perfect fit” for Jayden Daniels, but it will likely take a trade to make the partnership happen.
During Monday’s broadcast of “Get Up,” Tannenbaum made the case that the Atlanta Falcons should trade up from No. 8 to get Daniels in this year’s NFL Draft. In Tannenbaum’s scenario, Atlanta would need to trade with the New England Patriots for the No. 3 overall pick to get LSU’s star quarterback and Heisman winner.
However, Tannenbaum believes a trade for both franchises makes sense, and he sees Daniels as a perfect fit for Atlanta:
“It’s going to be the Atlanta Falcons, and here’s why: They’re not going to get Justin Fields (from the Chicago Bears), and they’re at No. 8,” said Tannenbaum. “I think if you’re the New England Patriots and Jerod Mayo, you want to give Mac Jones one year and you have a ton of needs…
“Atlanta gets that much-needed quarterback. I think he’s a perfect fit with those other young skill players.”
For what it’s worth, there is no guarantee Daniels is still available as the third overall pick. Caleb Williams is heavily projected as the No. 1 pick, and Drake Maye is given the best odds by ESPN Bet to go No. 2 overall to the Washington Commanders but Daniels is not far behind Maye in those odds. Fans can also track all the NFL Draft odds and movement with SDS’s Louisiana online sportsbooks links.
“I don’t hate it, I just don’t see how the Patriots and Jerod Mayo are going to put their future in the hands of Mac Jones,” Bart Scott countered in regard to Tannenbaum’s scenario.
Daniels would be a fun player to see in Atlanta with some offensive firepower already on the Falcons, but it will be hard for any team in need of a QB to pass on Daniels if he is still on the board. We’ll see if any teams shake up the draft order with a trade before we get to April.
