While it has long been rumored, ESPN made the news official Wednesday and announced College GameDay will kick off the season Sept. 3 from Lambeau Field for LSU’s neutral site game against Wisconsin.

This will be GameDay’s first trip to Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, and LSU’s 25th appearance on the pregame show.

Upon the official announcement of the news, ESPN senior coordinating producer Lee Fitting released the following statement:

“Lambeau Field is hailed as a football shrine and is as special of a venue as the game of football has to offer. It is an honor to be able to stage College GameDay from Lambeau as we kick off this opening weekend filled with top-caliber games.”

According to ESPN’s release, LSU has a strong 12-4 record when Lee Corso picks the Tigers to win; while LSU has a 5-3 record when Corso picks against them. On the other hand, Wisconsin has a 2-2 record when Corso picks them and a 4-2 record when he picks against the Badgers.

The game will be nationally broadcast on ABC at 3:30 p.m. ET with the commentating team of Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Todd McShay on hand.
