Jayden Daniels is widely expected to be in the mix as the second quarterback taken in the NFL Draft after Caleb Williams.

On “The Matt Barrie Show,” ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller explained where Daniels stands ahead of the draft, as Barrie relayed comments from Brian Kelly about Daniels’ adjustment to the SEC.

“Jayden Daniels probably saw the best of the best, and he probably has the best tape in terms of what NFL athletes look like to play against,” Barrie said.

Miller called it a comfort factor when he watches a prospect against SEC defenses for 2 seasons. Miller cited Daniels’ staggering numbers, and said he proved himself as both a pocket passer, and a deep-ball passer.

“There were times in 2022, you were watching Jayden Daniels get rag-dolled by Alabama defensive linemen,” Miller said. “Dude, you weigh 175 pounds, this is not a good idea. This is not good for career longevity. I thought he got better this year.”

Miller said quarterbacks are protected better in the NFL than the SEC, but it takes time, and you don’t get those calls as a rookie.

“For Jayden, there are going to be conversations about the weight and the play style, they’re absolutely going to be there,” he said. “Lamar Jackson’s about to win an MVP award, he’s not much bigger. So I think the key for Jayden is to learn how to be slippery like Lamar is. … Jayden is going to have to learn how to play more like that, and less like Josh Allen. Let’s try to make guys miss.”
