The New York Jets have high hopes for rookie S Jamal Adams this season, but they don’t want to rush the No. 6 overall pick into anything too quickly.

Therefore, during the team’s first preseason game against the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night, Adams only played for the first two series before watching the rest of the game from the sidelines.

It’s safe to say the former LSU star will be asking his coaches for more playing time in the Jets’ next preseason game, as he told NorthJersey.com that he was antsy sitting on the bench while the game was going on:

“I was a little upset that I only played a little bit,” Adams said in the locker room. “I’m so used to playing a lot, [to] being on the field. The veterans were laughing and giggling – joking about it. But I’m learning from it, learning from the plays on the field that I’ve made and we’re just going to continue to get better.”

For someone who recently said a football field would be the perfect place to die (drawing fair criticism for the remark), it’s no surprise that he wants to be out there on every defensive play.

Adams didn’t record any tackles during his limited action on Saturday night, but that will likely change as the preseason progresses.
