Former LSU tight end Desean Smith signs first NFL contract with Panthers
LSU will get credit for sending yet another player to the NFL as former tight end Desean Smith has recently been signed by Carolina. The Tigers had eight players drafted in the latest NFL draft. The Panthers announced the addition of Smith Tuesday afternoon.
Smith caught 19 passes for 325 yards during his four-year career in Baton Rouge. His only touchdown came last season against Jacksonville State. In order to make room for Smith on the roster, Carolina waived offensive tackle Pearce Slater.
