Former No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick thinks Joe Burrow should 'pull an Eli Manning' if Bengals pick him
As the likely No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, former LSU QB Joe Burrow is about to receive a ton of unsolicited advice.
It’ll be up to him to decide who to listen to and who not to listen to, but he’s going to have all sorts of advice coming his way.
On Monday, Star-Telegram.com quoted former No. 1 overall draft pick Steve Bartkowski, who said he advised Burrow to “pull an Eli Manning” and not play for the Cincinnati Bengals if they draft him:
“They’re Ohio guys,” Bartkowski said. “I might’ve offended them by telling them that, if it’s the Bengals, I think I’d pull an Eli Manning on that one. I said, you’ve got a chance to do that. That’s happened. [John] Elway kind of set the tone, then the Mannings delved into it after Eli was picked by San Diego.”
Burrow will indeed have a tough decision to make, but at this point, he hasn’t really committed one way or the other to anything regarding the Bengals.
We’ll see how the next few months play out as we head toward April’s draft.
