LSU added a big one out of the transfer portal Tuesday.

Former Notre Dame starting running back Logan Diggs announced Tuesday that he will return to his home state of Louisiana, committing to (and reuniting with) Brian Kelly and LSU. He chose the Tigers over a late push from South Carolina.

Diggs was born in Boutte, Louisiana and committed to Notre Dame as a high 3-star prospect. He’s spent the past 2 seasons in South Bend and had a stellar sophomore season, totaling 822 yards and 4 touchdowns for the Fighting Irish. He averaged just under 5 yards per rush in 2022 and will have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining.

He proved to be a capable receiver, too. Diggs caught a pair of touchdown passes with over 200 receiving yards for the Fighting Irish out of the backfield.

Diggs’ addition is a good get for a LSU RB room that has battle some injuries this offseason. Both Josh Williams and Armoni Goodwin are nursing knee injuries they suffered last season, especially Williams.

Noah Cain is another option that could be an important piece this season for LSU. The 5-11 bruiser totaled 409 yards and 10 touchdowns last season for LSU after transferring from Penn State.
