Ja’Marr Chase received an injury update Thursday ahead of Cincinnati’s Week 16 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The former LSU wide receiver will not suit up for Cincy in Week 16, still dealing with a shoulder injury that he suffered during last week’s overtime win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Chase did not practice on Tuesday or Wednesday this week, so this news is not exactly out of the blue for Chase, who has been the Bengals’ leading receiver this season by a wide margin. Chase has totaled 93 receptions with 1,156 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns.

The team’s 2nd leading receiver, Tyler Boyd, doesn’t have even half the yards Chase does in 2023.

Obviously, this is less than ideal timing for the Bengals, who are right in the thick of the AFC playoff race. If the season were to end today the Bengals would be the No. 6 seed.

And backup QB Jake Browning, who has played well in place of Joe Burrow, will be tested without his top receiver on the field.
