Ja'Marr Chase's struggles continue with more drops in Sunday's practice
Ja’Marr Chase was picked by the Cincinnati Bengals with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, reuniting with Joe Burrow, his LSU quarterback.
During the Bengals’ most recent preseason game, Chase didn’t look good, dropping 3 passes that were right on target.
No worries, right? It’s still early and, after all, Burrow wasn’t playing in the preseason game as he continues to rehab a knee injury.
Well, concerns are getting higher in Cincinnati, as Chase’s case of the drops continued during Sunday’s practice. Bengals reporter Kelsey Conway tweeted that Chase dropped 2 passes from Burrow that hit him in the hands:
Ja’Marr Chase with another drop in the end zone. Burrow looking for him over the middle, hit him right in the hands. That’s two drops so far today during team period #Bengals

Here’s one of those drops, which led to an interception for the Bengals’ defense during red-zone work:

Chase didn’t play during 2020, so it might take him a bit of time to get back up to game speed. Still, you can’t blame Bengals fans for getting a bit antsy as their highly drafted receiver continues to deal with a seeming lack of confidence as Week 1 approaches.
